LGBTQIA+ Suicide Awareness and Prevention

LGBTQIA+ Suicide Awareness and Prevention

Suicide is a serious health issue with millions of Americans attempting suicide annually, having long-lasting impacts on individuals, families, and communities. Youth are particularly at risk, and suicide is the second leading cause of death for ages 10-14, and the third leading cause of death among 15–24-year-olds. This risk increases among Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer/Questioning Intersex and Asexual (LGBTQIA+) youth. These youth are four times more likely to attempt suicide than their heterosexual peers.
